Welcome to NSAP
The Nigerian Society for Animal Production (NSAP) was inaugurated during the First International Symposium on Animal Production in the Tropics held in March, 1973 at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. Stakeholders involved in different aspects of Animal Production from the Universities, Research Institutes, Government Agencies formed the core of its membership at inception. Membership of NSAP is open to persons who are professionally qualified in any aspect of animal production and related disciplines as well as individuals and corporate entities involved in any aspect of the animal production industry. Membership types therefore include, student, ordinary, associate, corporate, honorary and life. The Society aims to promote the study and practice of all aspects of animal production; provide a forum for discussion of scientific and industrial policies, social and educational issues relevant to the development of animal production in Nigeria; engage in and support the publication of scientific and educational materials related to animal production; co-operate with organisations with similar objectives within and outside Nigeria. The Society’s flagship programme is the annual conference whose outcome has over the years helped to shape policy direction, develop skilled manpower and promote entrepreneurs within the livestock sector. The Nigerian Journal of Animal Production (NJAP) is the Society’s peer-reviewed journal which has the enviable record of maintaining consistent publication since 1974 and has over forty-seven volumes in its stable currently. The Nigerian Society for Animal Production is a member of the World Association for Animal Production (WAAP).
