secProfessor Francis Ojariafe ABEKE was born on 21st June, 1965 in Sapele, Delta State Nigeria.  He attended Okpe Grammar School Sapele, Delta State and obtained the West African School Certificate (WASC) in 1984.  He graduated with the degree of B.Agric from the University of Calabar in 1990. He had his postgraduate studies at the Ahmadu Bello University and obtained the degrees of Masters of Science and Doctor of Philosophy Monogastric Nutrition in 1997 and 2005 respectively. He obtained International Diploma Poultry Husbandry (IDPoH) and International Diploma Animal Feed (IDAF) from Barneveld College, The Netherlands in Professor Abeke started his academic career in December 1995 as Assistant Research Fellow at the National Animal Production Research Institute (NAPRI), Shika, Zaria and also doubles as a Staff of the Department of Animal Science, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. He was elevated to the rank of Research Professor in 2011. Over the years he had been involved in teaching and supervision of student research projects at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Francis was elected the National Treasurer, Nigeria Society for Animal Production in 2008 and served in that capacity till 2012. He became the Secretary of the Society in 2012 and is still serving in that office till date. He is a Registered Animal Scientist and a Member of the Animal He has published in both National and international Journals in the areas of Poutry Management, Feed milling operations and Nutrition. At the last count he has 52 Jornal articles and 50 peered reviewed conference papers. He has also authored a training manual.
