Prof. Olajide Ayorinde ADEYEMI started his education at Bishop Oluwole Memorial Primary School, Iju Road, Agege, Lagos between 1972-1977 from where he moved to the Prestigious Government College, Ketu, Epe Division, Lagos State for his secondary school education finishing in the year 1982 with a Grade One. He studied Agriculture at the University of Ilorin. He graduated with Second Class Honours, Upper Division in 1988. He enjoyed the University of Ilorin Undergraduate Scholarship during the 1986/87 and 1987/88 academic sessions. He was on the Dean list for 3 years. Olajide graduated as the Best Student in the Department of Animal Production and Overall Best Student in the Faculty of Agriculture carting away the Tate & Lyle Plc. Prize and the Societe Generale Bank Prize for the best overall graduating student in Agriculture. He also won the Kwara State Government Prize for best graduating student in Animal Production and the Faculty Prize. Olajide observed the mandatory National Service at the Directorate of Food, Roads and Rural Infrastructure (DFFRI) as a Project Monitoring Officer. He was back at Ilorin for graduate studies in Animal Production culminating in the award of M.Sc. (Animal Production) in 1991. His brilliant performance also won him the University of Ilorin Post Graduate Scholarship and the Federal Government of Nigeria Post Graduate Scholarship for two years for his Masters Research work. He had a brief stint in Private Practice as Assistant Project Manager at Temi-D Ventures. Not satisfied with the private sector he return to his first love teaching picking up an Assistant Lecturership position at the then Ogun State University (Later Olabisi Onabanjo University) in 1996. He rose through the ranks and attained the position of Senior Lecturer on 1st October 2006. He obtained the Ph.D. degree in Monogastric Animal Nutrition in 2005.
He is a diligent and suave academic who put in his best in teaching and human capital development as attested to by students who had passed through his tutelage. While at Olabisi Onabanjo University he was Departmental Examination Officer, Member of College Board and Board of Examiners of Agricultural Sciences. Staff Adviser, Nigerian Association of Agricultural Students. Sub Dean (Undergraduate) Faculty of Agricultural Production and Renewable Resources, Member, several University Committees and Coordinator, University wide GNS 201 Programme.
He moved to the Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta in 2010 as Senior Lecturer. At Abeokuta He continues to be a core academic. He rose to the Zenith of Academics in 2016 by attaining the rank of Professor. He served as the Ag. Head, Department of Animal Production and Health, Member, College Boards of Animal Science and Livestock Production (COLANIM), Plant Science (COLPLANT) and Postgraduate School. He was at one time Postgraduate Coordinator of his Department. He is also a member of the University Senate. He served as a member of University Publication for 4 years and is presently on the University Central Admission Committee
Prof Adeyemi is an accomplished academic with 176 publications (made up of 1 Edited Conference Proceeding, 1 edited book, 2 chapters in a book, 3 Technical reports, 123 journal articles, 46 refereed conference papers) and still counting. He has produced 110 B. Agric; 26 M.Sc Graduates and 25 Ph.D Graduates to date. He is presently involved in the supervisory committees of 7 PhD and 8 M.Agric students. His research interest include: Novel feeding resources for poultry and rabbit, Environment/Management manipulation on Poultry and Rabbit production. He has served as External Examiner and Professorial Assessor and he is still serving to many Universities in Nigeria.
Prof Adeyemi, a Registered Animal Scientist has served as the Deputy and later Editor-in-Chief, Nigerian Journal of Animal Production, He also served as an Ex-Officio Member of Council. Currently, he is the Vice President, Nigerian Society for Animal Production.
He is a Community leader and a believer. He is the Church Secretary of Emmanuel Baptist Church, Abeokuta.
He is married to Roselyn and the union is blessed with Eniola, AnuOluwapo and IreOluwa.
